A day after China’s ruling Communist Party nominated its first female leader in decades, the country’s leader-elect vowed to bring a more “modern, modern and progressive China” into the 21st century.
“It is also reflected in our election process,” he added. “
The modern, new and progressive nature of the Chinese Communist Party is reflected in the new candidate for the top leadership of the Party of China,” said Zhang Dejiang, who is running as a candidate for deputy prime minister, or prime minister.
“It is also reflected in our election process,” he added.
Zhang’s election would mark the first time a woman has been elected to a top position in China, although it’s unlikely that she’ll become the first female premier since Mao Zedong.
She has been a high-profile activist for a number of years, most notably after the country launched a crackdown on social media, leading to a crackdown by authorities in October 2015.
Since then, she’s been vocal about fighting corruption, saying she was elected to fight for justice and equality.
But she also has some criticism of the countrys top leadership, saying that she’d like to see more change in the country.
“I’m not going to give up,” she said in an interview with a state-run news agency in October.
“So much has changed in the past three decades, but I believe that we can still make significant strides in the 21 st century,” Zhang said.
A Chinese woman’s first official job After becoming the first woman to be elected to China’s top post, Zhang will head up the country of about one billion people and the largest in the world.
The countrys constitution allows a woman to run for top leadership positions, but only if she’s also the leader of a political party.
The Communist Party also allows women to serve as party leaders, but they must first serve as members of the National People’s Congress, the legislature that decides on party policy.
Zhang is expected to be the first Chinese woman to lead the country, as well as one of the first to hold the title of prime minister in her country.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has said he plans to nominate Zhang to be China’s next leader.
In October, Xi called on Chinese women to rise up and take action against corruption, while pledging to promote equality for all.
