A CNN article posted on Thursday that “The bigger picture” of the Russia investigation “has never been about me” was quickly followed by a statement from the White House.
“The President has been clear: He does not want this to be a distraction from the many other important issues facing our country,” press secretary Josh Earnest said in a statement.
The statement came after the White Trump Organization posted a photo on social media on Thursday of President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and Vice President-elect Mike Pence.
It captioned it, “The big picture of the Trump administration: the President and Vice president are committed to a new direction.”
It did not clarify why the White Office chose to post the photo.
The President, who has repeatedly dismissed the investigation as a “witch hunt,” said Thursday in a tweet that he and Vice-President Mike Pence “have made it very clear that there will be no further investigations into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russia.”
The President tweeted on Wednesday that the investigation “is not about me.”
The White House did not immediately respond to CNN’s request for comment.
