It’s hard to believe that it took the Warriors a few seasons to become the best team in the NBA.
And while the NBA has a long way to go before that goal is reached, the Warriors are on track to reach it.
The Warriors are undefeated in the regular season, they’re making the playoffs, and they’ve got a franchise MVP in Stephen Curry.
The last time they lost in the first round, it was to the Orlando Magic.
And the Warriors, despite having one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the league, have still managed to take a game off LeBron James.
But despite those successes, the season is just beginning.
It will be interesting to see how the Warriors can handle a first-round series against the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Warriors are now 1-2 in the series against Cleveland.
So how did the Warriors get here?
The first step was to draft Steph Curry.
After going 2-for-18 from 3-point range during the regular-season, the reigning NBA MVP was the perfect player to take the next step and become the next superstar in the world.
Curry is a big man, and his versatility was one of his greatest assets.
As the Warriors improved their defense, the rest of the league started to take notice.
After losing out on DeMarcus Cousins and Kawhi Leonard in the 2016 draft, the Cavs selected Kyrie Irving.
After making the All-Star team and earning a spot on the 2016 NBA All-Rookie Team, Irving was an immediate upgrade over the likes of Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns.
In addition to being a versatile player, Irving is also a winner.
In his rookie season, Irving led the NBA in assists per game (14.5) and steals per game (-3.3).
The Warriors will hope that Irving can add that production in the upcoming playoffs.
For now, the Cleveland Cavaliers have a clear advantage.
But what about the Warriors?
After going 0-3 in the playoffs this season, the Cavaliers are already one win away from a trip to the NBA Finals.
The Cavs have already clinched a playoff spot, and while the Warriors have been able to win their first two games of the regular postseason, the team has only one victory in the next two games.
And that’s not even counting the Cleveland game.
Even though the Cavs are still on the bubble for a spot in the postseason, Cleveland still needs to win two of its next three games to have any chance of getting a spot at the NBA Championship.
Despite that, the win over the Cavs could be a huge boost for the Warriors.
“We’re going to be ready to play in the second round of the playoffs,” Curry said.
“And that could be the start of a long run.”
The Cavs are currently one win behind the Warriors for the third seed in the East.
And if they can win their next two, the odds of the Warriors making the Finals will increase dramatically.
If the Warriors do win their second straight game, they’ll have a chance to make the Finals.
On the other hand, if Cleveland loses out on Cleveland, the chances of them making the postseason will drop significantly.
This means the Cavaliers have the potential to get the Warriors in the top four, but the odds are stacked against them.
Although the Cavaliers will still have a shot at the playoffs in the short term, they won’t have a playoff berth for at least the next three seasons.
And even if they do make the playoffs again in 2018, they will have to play the Warriors again in 2019 to get into the NBA Playoffs.
While the Cavaliers won’t be able to make a deep run in the 2018 NBA Playoffs, they still have the talent to get there.
The Cavaliers have arguably the most talented roster in the entire NBA.
Their biggest obstacle right now is the Warriors’ defensive issues.
If Cleveland can beat the Warriors on the road, the first three games of this series should be enough to keep the Cavaliers at bay.
Whether it is the first game or the last game, the fact that the Warriors beat the Cavs is going to have an effect on the rest for the Cavaliers.
